My love for administrative law and the legal profession
It never occurred to me to work in the construction company run by my father and uncle. At that time, I wasn’t sure what job I wanted to do. However, a career quiz pointed me in the direction of dentistry, accountancy, and law. That’s probably because I’m precise and practical. In the end, I chose to go to law school, which turned out to be the best choice. I really enjoyed studying, and my favourite subject was administrative law. During my studies, I was a court clerk at the Central Appeals Tribunal.
After finishing my studies, I worked for almost three years as a (senior) court lawyer in administrative law at the District Court of Amsterdam. It was here that I became aware of the importance of good legal representation. That was when my interest in working in private practice was piqued. As a lawyer in private practice, I have advised and assisted several construction companies and other businesses in proceedings in the broad field of administrative law.
Zoning plans, planning permission and enforcement decisions
Recently, I introduced a client to the ruimtelijkeplannen.nl website, to give them a glimpse into the wonderful world of zoning plans, structural visions and general rules drawn up by municipalities, provinces and central government. ‘Law is everywhere,’ I said. ‘If you have an eye for it,’ he agreed. I had taught my client to look at his own profession in a different way.
Expertise under one roof
From a wide market of legal service providers, it is not easy to choose an advisor or lawyer who can give you good advice. The reason I chose Van Till Advocaten was because of its large administrative law team and the efficient and practical way in which the office is run. Van Till Advocaten is also a great place to work, with a positive work environment. No-one here works on their own: instead, there is a spirit of cooperation, which is the key ingredient for good legal representation.
