Financial controller

Marcel Wijnberg has been the Financial Controller at Van Till advocaten since 2000.

“I’ve worked for legal professionals all my working life. After my studies, I ended up at a law firm more or less by accident. Thereafter, aside from a brief intermediate step, I have never left the sector. This is because I really enjoy working for lawyers. The work and the clients are very diverse. Although I have no legal training, I’m now very much aware of what goes on in the profession.”

Financial controlling

“My job is to keep an eye on the financial affairs of Van Till, so that the lawyers are not distracted by this. In this way, they can focus optimally on their clients and their ongoing cases. This is important, because the declarations must be clear and transparent. This allows clients to see what they are paying for.”

Open working culture

“For me, the nice thing about Van Till is that it’s a medium-sized firm with short and direct lines of communication. Decisions can be taken quickly without the need to pass multiple levels of management: there’s a refreshing lack of bureaucracy. Van Till has a professional, open and non-hierarchical structure. We all address one another on familiar terms. I began working here in 2000. I’ve never worked so long anywhere else, but it doesn’t feel like it. That says a lot about the atmosphere here; I still really enjoy working here.”
